Biscuit Gravy Casserole

Biscuit Gravy Casserole

This casserole is an easy throw together dish for lazy mornings. You probably have all the ingredients anyway.

Ingredients:

  • 8 count refrigerated biscuits

  • 1 pound of sausage*

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar

  • 6 eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • salt & pepper

  • 1 package peppered gravy mix

  • If making extra sausage gravy, you’ll need the drippings from the sausage plus 1/4 cup flour plus 1 cup milk

Instructions:

  • Make the peppered gravy mix according to the instructions on the package and set aside.

  • Brown the sausage.

    • If not making extra gravy, drain the sausage and set aside.

    • If making sausage gravy, add 1/4 cup flout to the sausage and drippings and cook for about a minute. Then whisk in 1 cup of milk until a gravy forms. Set aside

  • Cut the package biscuits into fourths and lay in the bottom of a greased 9x13” casserole dish.

  • Layer the sausage (or sausage gravy that you made) evenly over the biscuits.

  • Layer the shredded cheese evenly over the sausage/sausage gravy.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk then pour over top of the biscuits/sausage/cheese.

  • Season with salt and pepper.

  • Ladle the prepared gravy from the packet over the top of everything as evenly as you can.

  • Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
